Royal Caribbean is bringing back a historic name for its upcoming Icon-class ship (the third in the series): Legend of the Seas. The original Legend, retired back in 2017 and now sailing as Marella Cruises’ Marella Discovery 2, will live on through this brand-new vessel. Legend is set to be the first in the series to set sail in Europe, followed by the Caribbean year-round. It is currently being built in Turku, Finland.
“On the heels of celebrating one year of the record-breaking Icon Class and the memories made by vacationers of all ages on Icon, we are thrilled to announce the name of Royal Caribbean’s third Icon Class vacation,” said Michael Bayley, president and CEO of Royal Caribbean. “Legend of the Seas is the next bold step in this exciting era of vacations and the continuation of the Icon Class legacy, and we look forward to bringing the revolutionary lineup of experiences to more families and adventurers across Europe, the Caribbean and beyond.”
Altogether, Legend will feature over 40 bars and restaurants, seven pools, an expansive aqua park full of waterslides and more. It will also be the fourth ship in the Royal Caribbean fleet to be powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG), among its many environmentally friendly programs, extending to waste heat recovery systems and shore power connectivity.
Editor’s note: This page will be updated as more details about the ship are revealed. It was last updated on Mar. 11, 2026.
Core Features
As on Icon of the Seas and Star of the Seas before it, Legend will feature a diverse array of amenities and neighborhoods. These will include the Crown’s Edge combination skywalk, ropes course and thrill ride; the Category 6 waterpark, considered the biggest at sea; and Royal Bay, the largest pool at sea.
Deck amenities will extend to a signature Swim & Tonic swim-up bar and adults-only Hideaway with its own infinity pool suspended high above the waves below.
Families will enjoy their own Surfside neighborhood, complete with the adjacent triple-decker Ultimate Family Townhouse, which, according to the line, will tout “reimagined spaces.”

Among the ship's 28 dining options, the most the line has ever installed on a single ship, will be the class’ first Royal Railway experience, a simulated "Silk Routes" train trip offering a five-course meal. Passage through China, Turkey, India, Persia and Italy — each represented by their own course — will follow a narrative about famed explorer Marco Polo.
Legend’s Supper Club will be uniquely themed to Hollywoodland, bringing to life tinseltown’s golden age with another multi-course meal set to a jazzy journey through cinema history from the 1910s to the 1950s. Dishes will transform from black-and-white to sepia and finally to color, mirroring film’s own chromatic evolution.

Cajun Kitchen will serve up “bold bayou bites.” Adobo will specialize in Mexican cuisine. La Espanola will showcase Spanish tapas. Seoulmate will venture off into Korean territory. And Creme de la Crepe will bring it all home with classic French crepes.
Not overshadowed, though, will be Royal returning favorites: Surfside Eatery (California casual), Chops Grille (steakhouse), Izumi in the Park (grab-and-go sushi), Hooked Seafood and more to come.
For the first time at sea, Roald Dahl’s “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” will be sweetly remounted from Broadway to the Royal Theater — Willy Wonka, golden ticket and all in musical form. Aside from returning entertainment such as the shows at the AquaTheater and Absolute Zero ice-skating rink, mini golf will be reimagined at Lost Dunes on Legend.
The ship will also host the new “America’s Got Talent Live on Legend of the Seas,” marking the first time the show will be staged at sea. The family-friendly remounting will spotlight performers from the hit TV show, such as magicians, musicians, acrobats, aerialists and more, performing unique acts right onboard.
“At Royal Caribbean, we are constantly redefining live entertainment at every turn — bringing jaw-dropping performances to life across stage, air, water and ice — and America’s Got Talent Live on Legend of the Seas is the perfect expression of that vision,” said Christine Coachman, vice president of entertainment at Royal Caribbean. “As one of the most acclaimed entertainment franchises on television, America’s Got Talent perfectly reflects our commitment to bold, world-class experiences that will truly wow our audiences on Legend.”
